Touch & Go

I’m too old to deal with this bullshit but I’m too young to die

Full-time avoiding commitment, truth reflects a lie

Outside the summer is fading and I get no reprieve

Cast off societal rhythms.  I’m gonna do as I please

I see you’re holding on too tight

Suburban living is looking like a fistfight

My sense of reality is touch and go

I’m just saying out loud what you already know

Sometimes you gotta swim with the sharks

Go dancing in the dark

I see you praying for an angel in your gilded cage?

Counting up your sacrifices to make the minimum wage

I heard your bird can sing, but it don’t sing like before

You burned out your best connections can’t get back through the door

Young lion crawling on his front paw

I’m out here living like an outlaw

And my sense of reality is touch and go

I’m just saying out loud what you already know

Sometimes you gotta swim with the sharks

Go dancing in the dark

My sense of reality is touch and go

My sense of reality is touch and go

All your logic it won’t change my mind oh no

All those memories that you just can’t rewind

Oh no oh no

Too tired to ask for forgiveness, too young to die

Filled up on expectations, too numb to cry

It gets worse before it gets better

False tears you pen a love letter

And my sense of reality is touch and go

I’m just saying out loud what you already know

Sometimes you gotta swim with the sharks

Go dancing in the dark

My sense of reality is touch and go

My sense of reality is touch and go

My sense of reality is touch and go

My sense of reality is touch and go
